WOOD FLOORS
Wood strip / Block / Parquet
Timber floors are durable, easily maintained and are very stylish and modern. They are quite often used in offices, shops, hotels, restaurants and sport floors.

There are two main types of timber floors: Multi-layer and Solid. Multi-layer products are three or four-layer construction and are generally installed as a floating floor. The boards are locked into each other and to allow for expansion, they are not connected to any part of the sub-floor. It is installed over an underlay which cushions the wood and also reduces impact noise from the surface. Multi-layered engineered boards are pre-finished with either lacquer or oil and can be sanded and resealed up to 4 times.

Solid floors are tongue and grooved which are glued or secret nailed to affix the timber onto 3/4 inch battens. The overall thickness of the boards is usually 20mm, with the wear layer being normally between 6-8mm.

When timber floors are installed, an expansion gap is required at the perimeter of the room to allow for movement within the floor. The skirting boards should be removed prior to installation or a beading can be installed to existing skirtings.
Sanding & Resealing Timber floors
Hardwood floors can be restored to their natural beauty by sanding and then applying a clear 100% polyurethane lacquer or water based.
